Home Battery Storage in Murphy, TX
With a home battery, your lights, fridge and internet stay on during a grid outage, and your solar power is still there after dark. We size the battery to what you need, list every cost in writing, and leave a neat install.
What a Home Battery Does for You
A battery stores power so you can use it later. With solar, it charges from your panels during the day. When the grid drops, it switches your home over to stored power, usually fast enough that clocks and routers stay on.
Most people don't need to back up the whole house. A battery that runs the fridge, lights, outlets, internet and a few fans for a long stretch is often a better buy than one sized to run everything for a short one. North Texas summers make that choice matter, because a big air conditioner can drain a battery in a few hours.
We have been in business 5 years, and the first thing we do on every battery job is the same: write down which circuits get backup, how long they should run, and what that costs. You see all of it before we start.
What the Work Includes
Load review
We go through your electric panel and your usage with you. Together we pick the circuits that matter during an outage.
Battery and inverter match
We check whether your existing solar inverter can work with the battery or whether the setup needs a different connection. If you don't have solar yet, we plan the battery alongside a Solar Panel Installation.
Backup panel wiring
Most jobs move your essential circuits to a separate backup panel. That keeps the battery from trying to power things it can't handle.
Placement and clearances
We mount the battery where fire code allows and where heat stays manageable. A shaded exterior wall or a garage wall away from the water heater is common.
Permits and sign-offs
Our office files for the permit with the city and books the inspector's visit. We also send your utility the forms it wants to see before a battery system can be switched on.
Setup and walkthrough
We set the battery's modes, show you the app, and walk you through what happens in an outage.
When Battery Backup Is Worth a Look
You've lost power more than once lately
Summer heat and winter cold both strain the grid. If an outage has cost you a freezer of food or a night somewhere else, it's time to price backup.
Your panels go dark with the grid
Regular grid-tied solar is built to shut down when utility power fails, so line workers stay safe. Add a battery and your panels can keep charging it.
Your buyback rate is low
Some electricity plans credit very little for the solar you push to the grid. Keeping that power in a battery for evening use gets more out of the panels you paid for.
Someone in the house can't go without power
A CPAP or oxygen machine, a work-from-home job, or a well pump turns a short outage into a serious one.
The generator is more trouble than it's worth
No gas cans, no pull cord, no engine noise. A battery kicks in by itself and sits quiet.
How a Battery Job Runs
- 1
Phone call and site visit
We talk through your goals by phone, then come look at your panel, your solar setup and where the battery could go.
- 2
Written quote
You get a written breakdown listing the battery, the backup panel, wiring, permit and labor as separate lines. If something could change the price, like an old main panel, we say so up front.
- 3
Install day
Most installs take a single day. We'll tell you ahead of time when the power has to be off while we connect the backup panel. Before the truck pulls out, we pick up cut wire, boxes and foam so your yard and garage look like we were never there.
- 4
Final check and switch-on
After the city inspection passes and your utility signs off, we turn the system on. With you standing next to us, we shut off the main breaker so you can watch the battery carry your home on its own.
What Moves the Price
Battery prices depend mostly on how much backup you want and what your existing equipment allows. We don't hide any of that in a single number. Your written estimate shows each piece, so you can see what changes if you size up or down.
- Storage capacity
- More stored energy means more hours of backup, and more batteries or larger units.
- Partial or whole-home backup
- Backing up a few circuits costs less than a setup that can start a large air conditioner.
- Condition of your main panel
- An older main panel, or one with every breaker slot already filled, can need an upgrade before a battery goes in. We check it during the visit. If that work applies, it shows up as its own line so you know exactly what it adds.
- Existing solar equipment
- Some inverters connect directly. Others need extra equipment to work with a battery.
- Mounting location
- A long wire run from the panel to the battery, or a spot that needs extra protection, adds labor and material.
Home Battery Questions We Hear Often
Something not covered here? (972) 444-2185
How long can a battery keep my house running?
It comes down to what you plug into it. Lights, the fridge, internet and some outlets can run for a good stretch. Central air pulls power fast and shortens that a lot. We work out run time for the circuits you choose and put the number in writing.
Can a battery connect to the solar I already have?
Usually, yes. It hinges on your inverter. Some hook straight to a battery; others need an extra device between them. We look at your model on the visit and write down which setup works and what it adds to the cost.
Do I need solar panels to have a battery?
No. A battery can fill up from the grid and still carry you through an outage. If you add panels later, it can keep recharging during a long one.
Is a Texas garage a safe place for a battery?
Heat shortens battery life, so where it goes matters. We follow the required clearances and pick the coolest spot that works. Our company holds the Liberty Mutual Platinum Safety Award, and battery jobs get that same level of care.
Does the battery install come with a warranty?
Yes. We stand behind our work with a 10-year workmanship warranty on solar. The battery maker's product warranty is separate. We lay out both in writing before you sign, so you know who covers what.
