Murphy Solar Repair

When your panels produce less than they should, or nothing, we track down the reason. We test each component, point out the part that failed, and put the fix and its cost drivers in writing before any wiring is touched. The next step is your call.

What solar repair covers

A solar system has a few parts that do most of the failing. Inverters run hot and wear out. Connectors loosen or corrode. Wiring under the array gets chewed or rubbed through. Panels crack. Any one of these can cut your output or shut the system down, and the monitoring app does not always tell you which.

Our job is to find the actual cause, not swap parts until the numbers come back. Once we know, you get a written scope that says what we found, what we plan to replace, and what moves the price. If a repair does not make sense for an older system, we will say so plainly.

We have been in business 5 years, and we work on systems around Murphy and nearby towns like Wylie, Sachse, and Plano.

What we check and fix

Inverter diagnosis

We read the fault codes, check input and output voltage, and look at the inverter's history. Long Texas summers push inverters hard, so heat-related shutdowns are one of the first things we look for.

Microinverters and optimizers

On systems with a small unit behind each panel, one bad unit can drop a whole section. We find which one failed and replace it.

Wiring and connectors

We inspect the runs under the array and at the junction boxes. Loose, burnt, or corroded connectors get replaced, and damaged wire gets rerouted and protected.

Cracked or damaged panels

Hail and falling limbs can crack glass or break cells. We test the panel, photograph the damage, and swap it out if it is no longer producing as it should.

Monitoring that went dark

Sometimes the panels are fine and the system just stopped reporting. We get the monitoring back online so you can see what your home is producing.

Critter guard

If birds or squirrels have been nesting under the panels, we clear it out and install mesh around the edge of the array to keep them out.

Signs your system needs a repair

  • Your bill crept back up

If your electric bill rose and your usage did not, your panels may be producing less than they used to.

  • A red or orange light on the inverter

Most inverters show a fault light or code. Take a photo of it before you call. It helps us show up with the right parts.

  • The app shows zero or a flat line

A system that reads zero on a sunny day has either stopped working or stopped reporting. Both are worth checking.

  • Visible damage after a storm

Cracked glass, a panel sitting crooked, or wires hanging loose all need a look.

  • Scratching or nests under the array

Animals chew through the outer coating on wires. That can cause faults and, left long enough, a real hazard.

How a repair visit goes

  1. 1

    We talk on the phone

You tell us what you are seeing, what the inverter says, and how old the system is. That gives us a head start before we arrive.

  2. 2

    We test on site

We check the inverter, measure each string, and look over the array and wiring. Safe work on and around the roof matters to us, and our crews earned the Liberty Mutual Platinum Safety Award.

  3. 3

    You get it in writing

We show you photos of what we found. Then you get a written scope with the parts, the labor, and the factors behind the price. No work starts until you say yes.

  4. 4

We make the fix and test again

After the repair we test the system again and confirm it is producing. We pick up our old parts and packaging before we leave.

What moves the cost of a solar repair

Every repair is priced after we find the cause, and we write the price and its reasons down before work begins. What you see on that page is what the job covers. If we find something else partway through, we stop and talk to you first.

Which part failed
A loose connector is a small job. A central inverter is the biggest single part on most systems and costs the most to replace.
Warranty on the equipment
Many panels and inverters carry a manufacturer warranty. If yours does, the part may be covered and you pay for labor. We help you sort out the paperwork.
Getting to the problem
A steep roof, a second story, or a fault buried in the middle of the array takes more time and more care.
Parts availability
Some older inverters are no longer made. If a direct match is not available, the replacement and any wiring changes become part of the scope.

Solar repair questions

Something not covered here? (972) 444-2185

Do you work on systems another company installed?

Yes. Many of the repairs we do are on systems someone else put in. We will need the make and model of the inverter and panels if you have them. If not, we can read them off the equipment.

Is it worth fixing an older system?

Often it is. Panels usually keep producing for a long time, and the inverter is the part that wears out first. If the numbers do not work in your favor, we will tell you and write down why.

Will storm damage be covered by my homeowners insurance?

It may be, depending on your policy. We photograph the damage and write up what failed and what it takes to fix it. Your adjuster makes the call on coverage, and we can walk you through what they usually ask for.

Is the repair work warrantied?

We stand behind our work with a 10-year workmanship warranty on solar. Ask us on the call how it applies to the repair you need, and we will put it in your written scope.

Do I need to be home for the visit?

Not always. We need access to the inverter, the electrical panel, and the area around the house. Many inverters sit in the garage, so someone usually needs to let us in.

Tell us what the inverter or app is showing. We will set a time to come test it, and you will see the fix and its cost in writing before we start.
