Solar Panel Cleaning in Murphy, TX
Dirty panels make less power. We clean your array with purified water and soft brushes, look it over while we're up there, and tell you in writing what the job costs before we start. No soap residue, no pressure washer, no surprise add-ons.
What panel cleaning does for your system
Solar panels work best when sunlight hits clean glass. Over time a film builds up from dust, pollen, leaves and bird droppings. A storm washes off some of the loose stuff. The rest gets carried down the glass and settles in muddy streaks at the bottom edge of each panel once the water dries.
Spring is usually the worst stretch around here. Tree pollen settles in a yellow layer, and a dry, windy summer adds fine dust on top. Low-tilt panels hold onto that grime longer than steep ones.
A cleaning is the right call when your production numbers have slipped and nothing looks broken, or when you can see the dirt from the yard. If something is actually wrong with the system, we'll say so and point you to our solar repair work instead of selling you a wash you don't need.
What's included in a cleaning
- Purified water rinse
- We use deionized water, so it dries without leaving hard water spots. Tap water in this area can leave a mineral film that blocks light almost as much as the dirt did.
- Soft brush wash
- Soft-bristle brushes on extension poles lift stuck-on grime without scratching the glass or the coating. We never use a pressure washer or harsh soap on your panels.
- Bird droppings and edge buildup
- These spots get extra attention. Droppings can shade a whole cell, and dirt that collects along the lower frame edge is often what drags output down most.
- A visual check while we're there
- We look for cracked glass, loose wiring under the array, damaged mounting hardware and signs of critters nesting underneath. You get photos of anything worth knowing about.
- Before and after photos
- You see what the panels looked like when we got there and when we left. Simple proof the job got done.
Signs your panels need cleaning
Your production numbers dropped
Check your monitoring app. If output is down compared with the same month last year and the weather was similar, dirt is a likely cause.
You can see the film from the ground
A dull or hazy look, or a yellow tint after pollen season, means light is getting blocked.
Bird droppings on the glass
Even a few spots matter. One shaded cell can pull down the output of the whole panel.
Dirt lines along the bottom edge
Rainwater runs down and leaves a muddy band at the frame. That band tends to grow, not wash away.
It's been more than a year
Most homes do fine with a cleaning once or twice a year. If you can't remember the last one, it's probably time.
What moves the price of a cleaning
Every quote is written out before we start, so you know the number and what it covers. A few things change that number. We'll go over each one on the phone.
Number of panels
More panels means more time with the brushes. This is the biggest factor.
Roof height and slope
Two-story roofs and steep pitches need more rigging and more time to work safely. A low, one-level roof goes faster.
How dirty the array is
Panels that haven't been cleaned in years, or that carry heavy bird mess, take longer to get clear.
Pest guards or extra work
If you want critter screening added under the array, or a ground-mount cleaned too, we list it as a separate line so you can decide.
What happens on cleaning day
- 1
Phone quote, then written
Let us know your panel count, roof type and how many stories the house has. We write up the scope and price, and it stays that price unless you ask for something extra.
- 2
Safety setup first
Ladders and fall protection go in place before anyone climbs. Our company earned the Liberty Mutual Platinum Safety Award, and your roof gets that same care.
- 3
Soak, scrub, rinse
Purified water softens the grime, each panel gets a hand brushing, and a final rinse clears it off. We try to finish early in the day, before the glass heats up.
- 4
Photos and a quick walkthrough
Before we head out, you see the before and after photos and anything we noticed on the array. If a repair is needed, we write that up too, and booking it is up to you.

Panel cleaning questions
Doesn't rain keep my panels clean?
Rain rinses off some loose dust, but it rarely removes pollen film or bird droppings. It often leaves a dirt line along the bottom edge as it dries. That's why panels that get plenty of rain still lose output.
How often should I have my panels cleaned?
Once or twice a year works for most homes. Late spring, after pollen season, is a good time. If you have trees close by or lots of birds, you may want it more often.
Can I just clean them myself with a hose?
You can rinse ground-level panels with a hose and a soft brush. Tap water can leave mineral spots, and climbing onto a roof with a wet hose is risky. Never use a pressure washer or abrasive pads, since they can damage the glass and the seals.
Will cleaning affect my warranty?
Gentle cleaning with soft brushes and purified water is the safe way to wash panel glass, and it's how we do every job. We carry a 10-year workmanship warranty on solar, and we take the same care with a cleaning as with any other work on your system.
How long have you been doing this?
We've been in business 5 years, serving Murphy and towns nearby like Wylie, Sachse and Plano. Cleaning is part of how we keep the systems we work on producing.
